We strive to generate the least amount of waste possible by buying our ingredients in bulk, when possible.
Clays, charcoal, and oatmeal increase the cleansing and calming properties of our soaps. They also provide fun colors and textures.
Castor oil helps to create a rich and creamy lather, while also providing moisturizing and conditioning benefits to the skin. It has a high concentration of ricinoleic acid, which is a fatty acid that has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties, making it ideal for use in soaps for acne-prone or sensitive skin.
Cocoa butter helps to hydrate and nourish the skin, leaving it soft and supple. It has been used for centuries for its moisturizing and healing properties, and is especially beneficial for dry, damaged, or sensitive skin.
Coconut oil is known for its moisturizing and nourishing properties, making it an ideal ingredient for soap. Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty acids, which help to hydrate and protect the skin. It is also rich in vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant that helps to protect the skin.
We only use natural colorants in our soaps. We love the challenge of using natural dyes like annatto, charcoal, clays, cocoa, indigo, spirulina, turmeric, and rhubarb powder.
We mostly use essential oils to provide scent to our products. Sometimes (for some seasonal items), we use fragrance oils that are free from harmful chemicals like phthalates (including BBP, DEHP, DBP, and DEP), animal derivatives, antimicrobials, and other known harmful molecules.
We use things like oatmeal and coffee to add exfoliating properties to our soap.
Lye is what makes soap! When mixed with oils and butters, lye creates the reaction called soaponfication. Through this process all the lye is removed and you're left with soap.
We use both olive oil and extra virgin olive oil in our products. Both types contribute to a gentle, cleansing lather that is great for sensitive skin.
Shea butter makes our soap super creamy and moisturizing. It provides great conditioning properties to our soap and is great for the skin. Shea butter is rich in vitamins A and E, which help to hydrate and protect the skin, while also helping to reduce inflammation and soothe dry, itchy skin.
Sunflower oil is a natural ingredient that is rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids. It is known for its moisturizing and nourishing properties, making it an ideal ingredient for soap. Sunflower oil helps to hydrate and protect the skin, while also helping to reduce inflammation and soothe dry, itchy skin.
We use distilled water in our soap so we can ensure consistency in quality and be sure there are no contaminants.
